These previews illustrate each theme’s palette and shapes. Artwork and changes to YouTube Music may affect the final appearance. Original is a bundled charcoal theme; turn themes off to use YouTube Music without a theme applied.
Use a custom theme
- Select Custom file in the theme gallery.
- Choose a
.scss,.sass, or.cssfile under Custom theme file, or use the generated starter file. - Use Open file to edit it, then save your changes.
- Enable Reload when the file changes to apply saved edits automatically, or use Reload styles to apply them manually.
The default custom file location is sweetspot/custom.scss inside your Documents folder. Your file path is personal information: leave it out of screenshots and shared bug reports.
Background and blur
Use artwork as the background adds album art behind the player view. Turn it off for a more consistent theme palette. Blur backgrounds softens the background and adds glass effects to menus. These options have their own switches and can also be used with themes off. Disable blur if playback or scrolling feels sluggish.
YouTube Music can change its page structure, which may require updates to custom selectors. Keep a backup of working styles.
